Prepare for School Meetings
There are a variety of school meetings including eligibility meetings, annual reviews, transitional planning, and parent teacher meetings. Ideally, the school team works collectively with parents during these meetings. However, what many parents experience is less ideal. In these meetings parents are often encircled with educational jargon and bureaucratic procedures that can be confusing, overwhelming, or intimidating. Many parents leave school meetings with a grin to shadow their discontentment. While there are things that educators can do to improve how they conduct school meetings, parents can take the following steps to change how meetings are conducted.
